To celebrate Earth Day and to raise funds for our Greening Project, Mutchmor School Council will be hosting a student Jump-a-Thon on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22nd. Our goal for the Jump-a-Thon is to raise $12,000 for an outdoor classroom for our children to use and enjoy!
The Jump-a-Thon will be held during the students’ respective gym classes where they will rotate through age-appropriate stations including skipping, limbo, Chinese jump rope, Philippine jumping sticks, hopscotch and hula hoops. Come volunteer and help your child enjoy this fun-filled event!
The outdoor classroom will be located in the Mutchmor Field (between Third and Fourth Avenues), and will feature a circle of boulders beneath a grouping of trees to create a shaded outdoor learning environment. Of the proceeds from this Jump-a-thon, 90% will go to the outdoor classroom with the remaining portion being directed to school needs as determined by staff and school council.
We are looking for corporate financial support in addition to personal donations. If you work for, know of, or own a local business that you feel would like to participate in this worthwhile cause, we ask that you approach the appropriate person on our behalf.
Each student will receive a pledge sheet where they can collect pledges from friends, neighbours and family. Please ensure students DO NOT GO DOOR TO DOOR. The students are asked to request a flat rate pledge and collect the pledge in advance and return to the school by Earth Day. Please aim for a total pledge goal of $40 per child although all amounts are welcome!
Tax receipts can be issued by the School Board for donations made by cheque (payable to Mutchmor Public School) for amounts of $10 or more. Please complete all requested information on the pledge form to receive a charitable donation tax receipt.
We will also have a Healthy Canteen where the students can purchase healthy treats. Be sure to send some loonies and quarters with your child so that they can purchase a treat if they wish!
